What recent guests emphasize

The Village Inn delivers stunning lake views and a cozy, historic atmosphere

Visitors appreciate the tranquil setting, friendly staff, and convenient location within Glacier National Park, balanced by modest room features typical for a national park motel.

Guests often praise

  • Spectacular, unobstructed lake and mountain views from every room and outdoor seating areas.
  • Clean, comfortable rooms with a charming retro style and cozy amenities like effective heating and plush towels.
  • Helpful, welcoming front desk staff providing a friendly atmosphere and good hospitality.
  • Excellent location near Apgar Village, offering easy access to shops, dining, lakefront activities, and park transportation.
  • Peaceful environment allowing relaxation by the lake with chairs just outside the rooms.

Worth knowing

  • Rooms do not have air conditioning, phones, TVs, room service, or kitchen appliances like microwaves or mini-fridges.
  • Walls can be thin, so quiet hours are appreciated to maintain the serene atmosphere.
  • Prices reflect the premium location inside a national park but some find them inflated considering the simple room features.
  • Limited on-site amenities: no pool, restaurant, or fitness center, so dining and activity options are outside the motel.
  • Cell service is available, which is not always the case elsewhere in the park.

Best for

  • Visitors wanting easy access to Apgar Village shops, boat rentals, and local hiking or recreational activities.
  • Guests looking for a historic, laid-back motel experience with clean, comfortable accommodations.
  • Families or couples desiring a quiet retreat with beautiful natural surroundings and minimal modern distractions.
  • Anyone prioritizing location and views over luxury hotel amenities.

Guests appreciate the direct access to the water and the scenic views of the surrounding mountains, which can be enjoyed from wooden chairs just outside each room. The accommodations feature a retro charm and are kept clean and comfortable, though some elements like air conditioning are not available, reflecting the rustic experience typical of national park lodging.

Amenities at this 4.8-rated motel focus on practicality and convenience, including free Wi-Fi, complimentary parking, and accessibility features. There is no on-site restaurant, fitness center, or pool, making it well suited for guests who plan to explore the nearby park and village rather than remain onsite for extended amenities. The Village Inn’s location within Apgar Village provides easy walking access to lakeside activities, local shops, and dining options in the area. The motel is also within a short distance of other accommodations, including Apgar Village Lodge & Cabins and Glacier Guides Lodge, making it part of a small cluster of lodging options near Glacier National Park’s main attractions. Its setting is considered ideal for visitors focused on sightseeing and recreation, particularly those who value being close to natural beauty and village amenities.

Guest reviews highlight the stunning lake views and convenient location as major positives. The rooms are described as clean and comfortable though somewhat dated, and some guests suggest enhancements like mini-fridges or microwaves could improve the stay. While the motel offers a peaceful retreat for many visitors, it is important to note the absence of typical hotel luxuries, aligning with the park’s emphasis on a more authentic and ecological experience.

You get to stay in the park and are right on the lake. Sitting on your wooden chairs and enjoying the view from just outside your room is a great experience. The rooms are very dated but are kept up well. No AC, and your are paying very inflated national Park prices for the room.

I have stayed in most of the facilities that GNP offers. This to me is one of my favorites. It isn't too crowded due to its size and the location is perfect! The lake view is incredible!! When staying in a Montana national park there are certain things you need to be aware: typically no AC, no phones, no TV, no room service. This is normal and both responsible and encourages people to stay in the experience. This is one of the few places you do get cell service in the park and if having issues, you don't have to drive far to get it.

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights. The best part were the views from the room or even better sitting outside the room. I really enjoyed watching the sun rise. Views were great all day long. It was easy to walk to the water or any of the store in the area. It is a little longer walk to the amphitheater were you could learn different things about the park each night. If you need to drive they do have a parking lot you can use. Also very well placed to get on the Going to the Sun Road.

While this hotel doesn't reserve you with a spot on the Going to the Sun road, the beauty, serenity and prices of this location can't be beat. Every room has an amazing view of the lake and mountains. We brought our own paddleboards, but there were rentals right there as well. The Apgar Village area is very active as well.

The best part of the Village Inn is the view. It’s amazing. Right on the lake. The view from the rooms on the second floor can’t be beat. We loved the access to the lake..walk out your door and down some steps and you can jump into the crystal clear fresh water to swim. If they could add some mini fridge’s & microwave to the rooms it would be perfect. With limited food options in the village it would be very helpful to be able to store some fresh food for breakfast and hikes.

This was by far my favorite place to stay while visiting GNP. The rooms have a retro feel and are incredibly clean with comfy beds and plush towels. The ladies working the reception area made me feel so welcome that they should write a book in hospitality because they were that good. The views were breathtaking and I loved swimming in the lake and relaxing in the adirondack chairs outside of our room. I can’t wait to come back and visit!

The Apgar Village Inn was the perfect place to stay for our family trip to GNP! The rooms are decorated for the period and it is so cool! Food at Eddies was great and so convenient right there by the hotel. Also great to have the Red Bus pickup right there. Nothing can top the view from every room -it catches your breath when you walk into your room every time! We loved it!

LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION!!! Aside from Many Glacier Hotel this is the best view in the park and the best view in West Glacier for sure. Absolutely stunning. Historic Hotel. Front Desk/Staff were all very kind and friendly. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. Heater made it nice and toasty quickly in cold October. Beds are comfortable with great linens. Bathrooms are nice with great towels and toiletries. Decent water pressure but made up for in hot hot hot water. Very nice!! I’ll say it again the view is spectacular. Walls are a bit thin but everyone seems to be quiet and respectful at a decent hour. Great location inside park. You can walk around Apgar village and shop and eat. Going to the Sun and Camas road are right around the corner. If you can get reservations, definitely stay here. Awesome hotel.
